Blog Every Day In May - Day 12

Day 12, Sunday: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)

I miss my life living in the country as a young kid (birth thru 6 years old).  I feel like I'm always endlessly searching for that environment/way of life but can never seem to quite get there.  Here are some pics of me from those days:

Blog Every Day In May - Day 9

Day 9, Thursday: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words).

I'm reading Dr. Phil's latest book (about Baiters) and I took a picture of this because I think its good to remember.

Blog Every Day In May - Day 8

Day 8, Wednesday: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

Avoid carbs/increase fatty meats to lose weight.  I lost 30lbs that way.  The end.

Blog Every Day In May - Day 7

Day 7, Tuesday: The thing(s) you're most afraid of.

Basically you can go to Day 3 (HERE) and those are things I'm afraid of, and then some!

But in addition to that, are spiders and flying.  I'm not sure if I'm afraid of flying or just afraid of the logistics of the whole flying process since I've never done it.  I'm super afraid of lightning but seem to be getting better at being in a storm as the years go on.  I sort of pretend that the lightning won't get me.

Blog Every Day In May - Day 6

Day 6, Monday: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?

Sweep.  Not floors.  Sweepstakes.  Been my hobby since 2003.  I do remember entering the mail in sweepstakes when I was a kid.  Biggest thing I remember winning was a camera (I think) but I was way too young to even know how to use the thing.  I think when I was a teenager I won some Covergirl stuff including a nice robe which I still have to this very day!

I just love sweeping.  I do it for a couple hours each day at least.  Most expensive win was Genetic Testing back in 2011.  Best thing I won this year was an iPad.  Still hoping for the HGTV Dream Home or a trip to Fiji but any win is awesome.  Actually got a CD in the mail today (a win).

Blog Every Day In May - Day 5

Day 5, Sunday: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member.

My friend Kelly!  She used to be a blogger and she's been my friend for the longest time (14 years?).  We seem to go through the same sort of struggles and life moments at the same time.  Although, she went and got married and had lots of babies without me.  LOL!  But we still seem to go through some of the same things and almost have the same brains sometimes!  Its so weird!  But so cool.

We met 14 or so years ago at work.  Best job EVER!  So easy and I felt so good about the job I was doing there.  But that job wasn't going to last as it was a contractor job so I had to move on as did she.  Here's a picture of Kelly, on the left, with our other friend/co-worker, Belinda at our Christmas party.

We also both ended up graduating from Park University at relatively the same time - we both walked in the same graduation ceremony (2004).

 Such a great moment.

And here we are last summer.

Good times!  Good friend!

Blog Every Day In May Challenge - Day 4

Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it.

This is a hard one for me because I love TONS of quotes (just check out my Pinterest board HERE).

Here's this one from Oprah about God dreaming a dream bigger than you can dream for yourself which I've found to be true in my life.  I think it is one of my favorite quotes and the one I most remember.

Surrender

"God can dream a bigger dream for me, for you, than you could ever dream for yourself. When you've worked as hard and done as much and strived and tried and given and pled and bargained and hoped...surrender. When you have done all that you can do, and there's nothing left for you to do, give it up. Give it up to that thing that is greater than yourself, and let it then become a part of the flow."
— Oprah

And why do I love it?  Because it rings so true in my life.  I never thought I'd be at the level of job that I am.  I never thought I'd get my Bachelors degree let alone a Masters degree.  I never thought I'd be driving the vehicle I am.  I think the quote also helps me deal with things that are lacking in my life.  You want those things but you don't have them and life can be hard.  So it helps knowing that God has even bigger/better dreams for me than even I can imagine and that is pretty exciting.  Just makes you hopeful.

Blog Every Day In May Challenge - Day 3

Okay, I must admit...I'm a bit late to the party.  I was reading one of my favorite blogs bouffe e bambini and she is doing the Blog Every Day in May Challenge which originated from Story of My Life Blog.  So I thought I'd try it!  She basically gives you a topic to blog about for each day.  I'm going to try it because I've been slacking for months!  So here we go!

Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable

Lots and lots of things make me uncomfortable!

1.  Speaking in public or in a meeting, etc.
2.  Looking strangers in the eye while walking towards them.
3.  Anything that has to do with public restrooms.
4.  Telling people at work that they're wrong not knowing if I'm 100% right (its part of my job lol).
5.  Flirting with guys unless they talk to me first.
6.  Clothes that don't fit right.  I tend to shrink all my clothes (or gain weight lol) so nothing fits right especially around my gut.  Hate feeling like a stuffed sausage!
7.  Calling people.  I have never been a phone person even though I'm from the era of rotary phones and no cell phones.
8.  Hugs.  I dunno - I'm just not a hugger I guess.  LOL!  I do have this one friend who is the sweetest person EVER.  I used to work with her and she would be always hugging me and everyone else!  I think I got used to it but it was still weird.  LOL  I got issues haha.

There's a billion more things I'm sure.  But I think I'll leave it at my lucky number 8.  By the way....
