Do You Ever Get Lost?

This was of NO help to me today.

Garmin 1450LMT GPS Navigator - Garmin nĂ¼vi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator will prevent you from getting lost again. Garmin Navigator It comes with Lifetime Map, Traffic Updates and handy wide screen which is very helpful while on the road.

I got lost going TO work this morning.  Won't go into the details but part of it was due to construction and then wacky streets of Downtown Omaha.  My NAV just laughed at me the whole time.

Then I had a doctor's appointment after work which I have been to before (but came from home rather than work the previous time).  Thought I'd know how to get there.  Um no.  Lost.  NAV again is like "Can't find that house number."  Like really?  The thing is updated so I'm not understanding why that happened.  Let's just say I had to call the place and they had to guide me there and I was 15 minutes late but they were still able to squeeze me in.

Nothing like getting lost TWICE in one day to places you've been to before.  Normally my brain is pretty good with remembering places and knowing where to go or just finding the streets I need but wow, it failed me today!  Along with my NAV!  Ultimate FAIL.

One of them days I suppose.

Maybe a future Big Brother Houseguest???

big brother 15 | Big Brother 15 Premiere Brings New Twists And Turns

You guys might not know this but I'm a Big Brother SUPERFAN!!!!  I watch tons of reality shows but this one is by far my MOST favorite.  I've been watching it seriously since about Season 4.  Love Janelle!!!  And plenty others.  I also subscribe to the live feeds and have continuous twitter updates from Jokers (sent to my phone).  I'm completely and totally OBSESSED.

I never had much interest in going on the show.  I had a friend, Karen, who back in 2007 actually tried out for BB when I lived in Columbus, OH.  I think that was the year where they had the writer's strike and so they were doing a February BB.  I also think it was the year where they were coupled up or had exes or something.  She was going through a divorce so they crossed her off the list, unfortunately.  It sure would have been cool to see someone on there that I knew.

ANYWAYS, so this year I'm bummed about my life and all and need a little excitement.  So I thought to myself....why not go on BB?  I never really thought about it before because its almost impossible to leave for that long at my job.  But I thought about it this year and figured, I'll just take a leave of absence if it came to it.  Why pass up an opportunity like that?

Granted, there is no way I can deal with someone like this:Amanda - Big Brother 15

Or deal with a RAT like this:

To be part of my favorite show?  To talk to my peeps on the live feeds 24/7?  To relax and get tan all day?  To have a pool and a hot tub at my disposal?  Yes, please!

Sign me up!!!  So look for future posts about BB and me possibly signing up for next year's show.

Court Yard Hounds Album Review

I was asked to review the new Court Yard Hounds Album - Amelita.  I was pretty excited to hear what they sound like because I really liked the Dixie Chicks back in the day.

Link to AMAZON or iTUNEs to buy the album.

The Court Yard Hounds are made up of Emily Robison and Martie Maguire who were in the Dixie Chicks.  Emily states, "We're a band, not a side project.  We like our sound, and we're going to continue to do this, and share something new this time around."  After a few years away from the limelight and the Dixie Chicks, the two sisters were ready to get back into the studio with the creation of Court Yard Hounds.  Amelita, out now, marks the Court Yard Hounds' second album.

Amelita contains 11 new tracks.  Robison and Maguire took a different approach with Amelita than their debute album in 2010.  This album contains a new perspective, which is due in part to time passed since Robison's divorce.  "I've been freed of all those time-heals-everything kind of things," says Robison.  "Now, I've opened up to other ideas and ways of looking at life and the world.  I think it's not only a more hopeful album, but it's more...well fun."

"I love this band...the way we explore new aspects of ourselves and what we can expect from each other, both musically and as people," says Martie.  "We are close.  Plus, being on the road and being in the studio is like my spa from the everyday challenges of just being a mom."  The Court Yard Hounds' new album is a clear statement of who the girls are as artists, defining their sound as a band, with soaring songs that are personal, yet familiar and widely relatable.

Below is the track listing and I'll provide my comments of what I think of each track.

Amelita Track Listing:
  1. Sunshine - This song sounds like a song by Merril Bainbridge.  Which I like but I was not expecting Court Yard Hounds to have this type of sound.  Figured they'd be country as usual.  The track does have a nice sound.  Although, the lyrics are kind of confusing.
  2. Amelita - Good beat and catchy.  They sound like Sheryl Crow here.
  3. The World Smiles - This is another song that sounds like Merril Bainbridge.  I'm not a fan of this song for some reason.  Might be the negative Nelly in me. haha
  4. Aimless Upward - It is an ok song.
  5. Guy Like You - It's an ok song.  Kind of sounds like Sheryl Crow again.  Slow, mellow type of song.
  6. Rock All Night - Upbeat Sheryl Crow type of song.
  7. Phoebe - Very country type of song.  The lyrics somewhat remind me of "Mean" by Taylor Swift.  I like that they're doing some country on this album.
  8. Divided - This is a song about divorce and I can't relate.  Slow song.  Kind of sad and depressing.
  9. Gets You Down - Slow song.  It is just ok.
  10. Watch Your Step - Good beat, good line dancing song.  This is the song where my head is bopping.  I also hear a Deana Carter type of sound.  Love that.
  11. The Road You Take - Can totally relate to this song.

Overall, there are some good tunes on the album.  The track that really stands out for me is #10 Watch Your Step.  Very country and very upbeat.  This is the first time I've actually listened to The Court Yard Hounds so I'm not sure what their first album was like so I'm not sure how they've evolved.  Although, I do like the country sounding tunes better than the other ones. I honestly cannot relate to most of the lyrics but I can relate mostly to #11 The Road You Take.  Talks about love and about not being afraid to give your heart away.

I participated in this campaign for One2One Network.  I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review.  By posting, I am eligible for incentives.  All opinions stated are my own.

August 9th - Favorite Book - #RockYourBlog

August 9th- Favorite book?

The Stand by Stephen King.  LOVE LOVE LOVE this book.  I haven't read it since maybe I was a teenager?  Need to read it again but I'm much of a book reader now that I'm an adult lol.  Don't really care for the mini-series - although I love Gary Sinese.
