Rainy, gloomy days!  In the 60s.  I do like perfect (75 degree) sunny days but not too many of them.  Gloomy days just cheer me up!

Definitely the summers when I lived in Kentucky in the country.  Just playing for hours outside in the grass and trees and my swing set.  Wish I could go back to those times.

Fabulous Fitness Survey

Saw this on another blog and thought I'd answer these questions.  Fun fun!

1.  What did you eat for breakfast?

Nothing.  I normally don't eat breakfast on the weekdays because if I do, then I'll be hungry till lunch.  So I normally down at least 32 ounces of coffee and that's it.

2. How much water do you drink a day?

?????    If you count coffee, I'd say I drink gallons of water.  LOL!  Otherwise, I'd say maybe a couple bottles of water MAX.

And before you get all intervention on me about my coffee habits, I quit coffee for a whole year and didn't feel any different or any better for that matter.  And if you're still not convinced, here's a little article that helps my case.  LOL

3. What is your current favorite workout?

Running.  Is there any other workout? lol

 4. How many calories do you eat a day?

Don't really know.  Don't count calories.  I think I did try to count it one time and its between 2500 and 3000 calories.

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Beef jerky - the grassfed kind where it is only made of beef and salt. 

 6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

Hamburger (no bun and sometimes with cheese) and at least 5 pieces of bacon.  

 7.  What is your favorite body part to strength train?

Probably my arms.

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

Definitely my thighs.  I HATE lunges/squats.  

 9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

Ice cream, cake, and peanut butter.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Um, sort of?  I do not take any regularly.  I feel like I get all the 'necessary' vitamins through my diet (and blood tests validate this).  But at the same time, something is flippin' wrong with me and has been for over 3 years now and docs don't understand it so I try every darn supplement known to man to see if they'll make me feel better.  No luck so far. 

11. How often do you eat out?

Hardly ever.  Especially since moving to a new state where I know no one.  But my favorite restaurant is Texas Roadhouse!  Give me some of 'dem ribs!

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

 I guess my mom and friends.

 14. Do you have a gym membership?

No need.  I like to be outside.  So that is where I work out. 

 15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Never enough.  Probably 6 1/2 to 7ish.  Or less.  Depends on how much TV is on the night before.  LOL!

16. Do you have a “cheat”day?

 My 'cheat' days are actually called 'out of control' days.  I don't believe in cheat days.  Well, maybe on my birthday.  LOL  No, but honestly I don't believe in them because those cheat days always screw me over. 

 17. Do you drink alcohol?

I do but not a lot lately (not since March).  Again, I'm in a new state and don't know anyone.

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

I used to!  Maybe someday we can run together again.

 19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

Um, I'm thinner???  And if I stick with it, I definitely feel a lot better.  But yeah, the thin part is THE best.  Sorry, gotta be honest!  I would eat cupcakes and ice cream all day if I could.

 20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

Not eat cupcakes and ice cream today.  LOL!

Aging Hits Us Whether We Like It Or Not...

Unless you're a celebrity or have great genes, that is.  Heck, I thought as long as I ran and ate healthy, I'd avoid the aging process altogether. 

Not so much.  My birthday is in a couple of days (will turn 36) and it is fitting that today I found out another aging annoyance. 

I put on some shorts to go walk to the mailbox (it is like in the 90s out).  Most of my shorts are super short.  I always think my legs look fine since I'm a runner and I'm on the slimmer side (due to diet) so my legs tend to be thin.  Well, I never look at the back of my legs...but today I did.  I have cellulite and have had it since forever but let me tell you, it gets worse with age.  No matter what I do - it is there!  If I lost all the fat in my body - of course it would disappear but geez...I can't lose all the fat in my body.  And being a runner does not help.  At least for me it doesn't.  Anyways, what I saw today besides more of the cellulite, are these dark veins behind my knees.  What is that!!!!!  I remember seeing those on older ladies.  And now I have it?  WHAT IS THAT!!!!  So that area looks dark and weird plus I have cellulite.  No more wearing shorts above the knee??!!! Or skirts?  Yup, that made me feel old.

So I have dark veins and cellulite.  Plus I've had gray hair since my mid-20s but its getting worse and worse by the year now.  I have to go to the salon for a root touch up every 5 weeks...and honestly I probably should go every 2 weeks but that is ridiculous. 

Then there are the wrinkles!  I say in the last year or two they have become prominent - so much so that you can see them in pictures.  And the age spots have even started.  What is that!!??? 

The funny thing is...I don't feel like the age that my body is saying I am!  My mind says I'm 25.  Heck, I haven't done half the stuff most people my age have done (husband, kids, getting my life together lol).  I almost feel like I'm going through puberty again!  LOL!!!  I remember my body changing and every day I would chant to myself I want to stay a kid.  I want to stay a kid!  LOL!  Oh man, life comes full circle at times don't it?

I guess we all can't be perfect.  I just wish my imperfections were a lot less! LOL  Granted, I probably won't stop wearing short shorts or skirts etc.  Because wearing long shorts etc just isn't me.  Plus, I work hard for these legs - and if they look good from the front - who really cares about the back? LOL  I'll continue to dye my hair because I just can't get over that.  And my wrinkles, well they are what they are.  I am not a fan of sticking needles in my forehead.  And my age spots....nothing I can do about that.  It is just weird to see your body getting older.  Happy Birthday to me! LOL

Yes, I remember having a purple one when I was young (in the 80s) like the one below (but more purple):

In the early 90s, I eventually got this massive boombox that had a cd player (plus a cassette player and radio) and I thought it was the most awesomest thing ever!  Probably my favorite cassette would have to be New Kids on the Block - Step By Step song.  I think I only had the single?  But that thing was played on heavy rotation.

July 3rd - Bad Sunburn - #RockYourBlog

  • Have you ever had a really bad sunburn?
When I was a kid - ALL THE TIME.  Not to the point of blistering (which my older bro has experienced) but still bad on a regular basis.  I'm pretty fair and can tan after a while but usually burn first and can get pretty badly burned depending.

The last time I got really sunburned (but not too bad) as an adult I think was summer 2010.  Here's a picture of me:

Now, I'm a runner and last summer I ran in some 95+ heat many, many days.  But I didn't get badly sun burnt because I wore sunscreen.  I normally don't wear sunscreen but on super hot days like that - it tends to keep my temperature down and as a runner - that is a VERY good thing.  But if I'm not running and I'm outside, I do not wear sunscreen.  Since I haven't been sun burnt since 2010, I must not get out much! LOL!

Before I answer that question, did you know today is World UFO Day?  I had no clue.

But to answer the question, yes I do.  Back in the 90s, UFOs seem to be getting a lot of attention.  Haven't really heard much since then so I haven't really thought about UFOs.  But I can't imagine in this whole universe that there isn't anyone else out there like us.

  • What is your favorite flavor ice cream?
Well, if I could eat whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted my answer would be:  Coldstone (largest size) coffee ice cream with heath bars and peanut butter.  YUM.

Due to my diet, I try to avoid ice cream but when I can't take it - I buy coconut milk cookie dough ice cream.  Pretty darn good and as healthy as you can get.
